Amerisur holds two oil and gas permits in the Paraguayan part of the Chaco and Parana Basins, 100% owned through its subsidiary, Amerisur SA (Paraguay).
Amerisur has more than 4,663km of 2D seismic including approximately 1,800km of 1971 vintage Texaco data, 817km of more recent Phillips Petroleum data and 2,046km of data acquired by Shell between 1979 and 1981.
This Exploration and Production (E&P) permit covers approximately 800,000 hectares in the north west of the Paraná basin. Approximately 1,000km of 2D seismic data has been reprocessed in Bogotá, and has been re-interpreted both in house in Bogotá and by a geophysical consultancy in Perth, Australia.
Latest Developments
• Commissioned a 12,800 line km aeromagnetic survey over its San Pedro block and the Parana basin up to the border with Brazil, which will allow the Company to refine the structural forms and confirm sourcing pathways to the block as indicated by previous geochemical work.
• The company contracted to acquire and process this survey is Fugro Geophysical, based in Brazil. The Company completed the survey in early May 2011, and processed results are expected later in the year.
• Surface geochemical work confirmed significant hydrocarbon anomalies.
• Mapping indicates structures could be very large.
• Objective is to create drillable prospects with a view to select drilling or further partnering.
This block is held as an E&P permit. After initial studies, some parts of the Curupayty block were relinquished in line with contractual terms, and the block now extends over approximately 800,000 hectares of the Curupayty basin located in the very north of Paraguay, close to the border with Bolivia.
The Curupayty block remains under technical review, and further activity there will probably be driven by the results in San Pedro.
