Platanillo and OBA pipeline
The Platanillo Block located in the Putumayo Basin, onshore southern Colombia holds the established Platanillo light oil field. Amerisur has a 100% working interest and is operator. Through well optimisation, workovers and infill drilling, work continues to maintain production from the field to achieve the high recovery factors possible in the basin.
Amerisur is owner of the Oleoducto Binacional Amerisur (“OBA”), an export pipeline crossing the Ecuadorian border for the low-cost transportation of crude from southern Colombia. The infrastructure is located on the Platanillo field. Oil is transported from Colombia through the OBA and joins the Ecuadorean pipeline system to the port of Esmeraldas. The pipeline commenced operations in October 2016 with current minimum throughput capacity with Petroamazonas of 9,000 BOPD. In 2019, Amerisur started to transport third party crude through the OBA creating a new source of revenue.
The OBA has a technical capacity of up to 75,000 BOPD with current pumping capacity of 18,000 BOPD.
